The Veilborn Age (50,000 - 40,000)
The Veilborn Age marks the absence of the Gods from the world, after the dust had settled from the long period of preternatural carnage. The population of the world is all but decimated, thin strings of fragile life, monstrous and humanoid, surviving in pockets of the world in various states of incidental segregation thanks to the Sundering of the previous age. The remaining gods take stock of the ruined world, of the pantheons of divinities where only a few survive, and the great number of pantheons entirely scoured from existence, and of their few remaining creations, and in this grim reflection collectively agree that the world will no more survive their wars than they will.
For 10,000 years, the Gods retreat, and merely watch as the survivors of Aosha are suddenly left with a silent world, with skies not marked by flame and lightning, where the land doesn't quake at every hour in seizures of incalculable violence, and the seas aren't frothing and churning. No titans clash, and the sentient races are left with the numbing certainty that they are truly on their own.
It is an age marked with confusion, and tentative hope.
